MagTest System

The MagTest System is a system to generate magnetic fields and to perform tests regarding the susceptibility against magnetic fields in accordance to military, civil, automotive and manufacturer’s standards.

At least the system consists of a function generator as signal source, a power amplifier and a radiating loop or Helmholtz coil.

The generated fields are in a linear relation to the coil current. The coil current is measured by an rms-voltmeter and a shunt or a current probe. The magnetic field strength can be checked with a monitoring loop and a rms-voltmeter.

To fulfil highest requirements on large Helmholtz-coils a compensation network is needed. It compensates the reactance of the coil with capacitors.

With the Schwarzbeck Magtest System Software AC immunity testing is fully automatized.

The SW 9605 Current Clamp was designed to measure RF-currents on conductors or conductor bundles with a maximum diameter of 23 mm. The conversion ratio is 1:1 in the nominal frequency range, therefore the receiver-reading in dBµV corresponds directly to the current in dBµA.

When connected in series between an amplifier and a Helmholtz coil, the current can be measured indirectly. The voltage drop is proportional to the current through the coil. It can be used for testing according to MIL STD 461 (CS101) and ISO 11452 10.
